Jatra & Jatra Biroti

Jatra embarked on its journey in 1999 as a creative collaboration, blending music, art, and craft. What started as an exhibition at Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi evolved into a dynamic space – a store, shop, and meeting place, seamlessly blending tradition with urban influences and emphasizing fair trade and sustainable practices. Jatra is actively prioritising environmental well-being and fostering community connections by advocating for slow food and celebrating culinary heritage through Jatra Biroti. The translation of the Bengali word “Jatra” is “Journey”. Hence, the visual appeal of a moving cart can be observed in the logo design. The objective was to design a minimal brand identity that resonates with Jatra’s enthusiasm for local culture, crafts and lifestyle.
